G.B. Cooley endeavors to fulfill its mission by providing an array of supports and services to developmentally disabled youth, adults and their families. Services are provided at a number of locations, including the main campus north of West Monroe, Louisiana, in residential homes all across Ouachita Parish, in service recipients’ personal or family homes, and in multiple vocational training and support settings.

G. B. Cooley is a significant employer in Ouachita Parish with a five million dollar payroll and a workforce of more than 250 employees. G. B. Cooley’s eleven million dollar budget also significantly impacts the local economy through the purchasing of goods and services from local vendors and merchants on a routine basis.

Established in 1962, G. B. Cooley Hospital Service District, a political subdivision of the State of LA, is governed by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. Over the years, G. B. Cooley has been a valuable resource to individuals, and their families, in need and desiring the opportunity to become valued, integrated members of the community. G. B. Cooley is able to accomplish its’ mission through funding derived from state and federal Medicaid dollars, a small millage property tax, and private donations.
